Baseball is back!!

One of the greatest sounds in all the world is the sound of a baseball bat hitting a baseball.  And this year that sound is a whole lot sweeter!

Maybe it has to do with the fact that this baseball season did not start on time and I’ve missed it for so long.  Or maybe it has to do with the fact that the season has been shortened dramatically, and I’m relishing every single game of the shortened season a little bit more.

Whatever the reason may be, I am just glad baseball season has returned, and I know I am not the only one.  It was awesome spending numerous hours (trust me, there was a lot of couch sitting going on!) this past weekend watching my Royals play.

It didn’t matter the Royals seemed to have struck out 153 times and didn’t look the greatest.

It didn’t matter there were no fans in the stands and the simulated crowd noise sounded even louder than if there were actual fans in the stadium.

It didn’t matter that cardboard cutouts of people replaced well…people in the seats.

It didn’t matter that I know the season is only 60 games and these next couple months will fly by.

All that mattered to me was the fact that baseball season is back, even if it is for just a little bit.  Growing up just minutes from Royals stadium, Opening Day was always one I marked on the calendar and a day I looked forward to.

I am glad I don’t have to mark 2020 as a completely lost year for America’s Pastime.  Sometimes when things are taken away even for just a little bit, you appreciate it more.

And trust me, I appreciate live sports and baseball a little bit more now.  In a time where we need to find the silver linings in EVERYTHING, the return of baseball season is one of mine!
