Amazing How That Works

Isaiah 55:8-9

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Our youngest son was born the beginning of November. To us, it was not the best timing and added a little bit of extra stress. My wife is a bit of a planner (I am not), and she was wanting to have a child closer to summertime for a few reasons.

-She works for schools so she has the summers off. Having the baby closer to summer equals more time with the little one, in theory.

-The weather is better heading into summer than the baby being born in November, right in the middle of flu season.

To us, the baby was born at an inopportune time. Our ways determined we would have liked to have the baby later in the year. Our ways determined that having a baby in November was not the best time. Our ways determined a November birth did not fit into our plans.

Little did we know of what all would go down soon after our son was born. In this particular instance and ALWAYS, GOD’s ways were much higher than ours. After the COVID-19 pandemic happened, my wife and I have been talking about all the silver linings that have happened, regarding the timing of our son’s birth. They are too good not to share.

-My wife has actually been able to spend more time with our son than with our first child!! GOOD News.

-If our son was born later on in the year during this time, my mother would not have been able to come and spend about a week with us to help around the house and with the oldest. My mom is in a risk group for COVID-19, and we would not have felt comfortable having her here. GOOD News is she was able to come in November!

-My wife by being pregnant would have been in a risk group for COVID-19. If it were in our plans to have the baby closer to summer, she would be expecting right now. GOOD News.

WOW. WOW. WOW. God’s ways are definitely higher than ours. And I am so glad. Hindsight is always 20/20, but sometimes it is always good to look back and see how God works in our lives, while also realizing how much we worry sometimes. This was a great reminder to us.

At the end of the day, it’s best to just TRUST God, since he is in control.
